Re: Cropping - works in moho - export has background

I know this is no comfort but the new paint tools are pretty basic. I find they're useful for drawing something quick and simple inside Moho but maybe not-so-good for major image editing tasks. (Yet, anyways.) When I have a paint task that's bigger than quick drawings of hands or mouths for a switch...

Re: Cropping - works in moho - export has background

Strange. Erasing pixels in an image layer should work. It's working here anyway. If you're just cropping the image, can you just use the cropping tool or a mask layer? If you need the cropping to be non-destructive, either of these might work better. Can you post a screen cap and/or upload an exampl...

Re: towyard: the game!

That's pretty neat! Thanks for sharing your work. Sorry to hear you're leaving Moho for Toon Boom Harmony. I agree that Harmony has more advanced freehand drawing tools and is better for FBF work but for advanced puppet rigging, IMO, it's actually a lot easier to do this in Moho. But if you do get H...

Re: Can't erase shape keyframes on frame 0 (solved!)

I haven't seen that one in a while but what I do is I create a keyframe a few frames into the timeline, copy that keyframe, and then paste it into frame zero. Then I'm able to delete both keyframes.

Not sure why that works but it somehow it informs Moho that there's a keyframe there.

Re: Duplicating image layer

Image layers can be duplicated in two different ways. When you select Duplicate Layer , you're essentially creating a 'reference' layer because the layer is sharing the same original file you saved when you created the layer. Any changes made to one are made to all duplicates. To do what you want, y...

Re: switch layer bone manipulation for lip syncing

I should add that I don't typically use the above method very much these days except in special cases. I find most of the time it's easier and faster to use the Switch Selection window. (Use the modifier keys to select the Switch layer or, even better, use Layer Shortcuts to select the layer.) Downl...

Re: switch layer bone manipulation for lip syncing

Am trying to create lip syncing using a switch layer. How do I manipulate a bone so that it holds for a sub-layer? (I know that "manipulate bones" is only for testing at frame 0.) Are you using a Smart Bone Dial (SBD) to control a Switch layer? To do this without running through all the switch draw...

Re: Group With Selection does nothing? (Moho 12)

Good call, Jkoseattle!

I use the right-click version of the Group With Selection command all the time and it works here, but I wouldn't have immediately guessed that it doesn't work on a later frame (or more likely I didn't remember.) :)

Cool!

Thanks. I thought it was odd that I only saw JPG but glad to see there are actually several formats under the arrow.

AFAIK, they're working on the next update of 13. I'm really looking forward to this update but I don't know when it will be released. Hopefully they won't keep us waiting too long. :)

Re: Rigging imported PSDs: quadrupeds

As I recall, you're working with a vector image? I'm working with imported PSD files. Is there a difference in how the bones work with bitmap vs. vector images? My image is more comparable to the cat in the CK Animal pack (included in the Moho software). But the file doesn't seem to provide any inf...

Re: Rigging nested layers of imported PSD

Some of the following is a bit advanced but it may give you some ideas for what's possible: For setups like the ears you described, I usually have the ears layers separate from the rest of the head artwork. This way, the bones from the main Bones layer can be used to animate the ears. Then, when the...

Re: Questions about smart warp / 2D mesh

I don't know if any of this helps but a couple of ideas: At any point, did you transform the Image Layer on the Timeline ? If so, you may need to delete those keyframes. When using a Smart Warp mesh, the Image layer isn't normally transformed unless it's for a special animation in addition to what t...

Re: Bone that moves another bone that moves a third bone

I agree with Jeremy. Nested controls are good when you just want to keep the controls simple and your characters have a limited range of expressions by design, but on the other hand, it can limit the possibilities when you want to go beyond that range. For example, sometimes I'll use nested Smart Bo...

Re: Why do bones make imported body parts (images, not vectors) distort?

When you said Vertex layers, did you mean vector layers? Sorry, yes, vector layers. I use too many different programs and sometimes get my terminology mixed up. :) A custom 'Smart Warp' mesh isn't always necessary because when you apply bones to an image, Moho is actually creating a mesh for you in...
