Re: animation test

Well, you say you are a "bit new to animation", but it certainly doesn't look like it! You have a very well developed sense of timing and acting, and you are animating like a pro.

Re: The Simple Carnival - Tornado

I liked the video. The 3d is very effective, though I find the timing of the animation rather too even. Everything seems to move at the same speed. The paper cutout look is great.

Really good! You've done a great job with the illustrations, they look look they were drawn in ink on paper.

Really nice little piece, full of charm. Quite a 1940's-50's look.

Re: Traditional vs. vector animation

I take your point Victor. It's also interesting to use AS as an ink and paint tool, if it offers advantages over manual methods. Clearly, as Tom pointed out, it can semi-automate the task of inbetweening, but it wasn't a particularly fast way of working. The hybrid process that you describe sounds l...

That's really good. Atmospheric backgrounds of London, and the tramp is nicely handled.

Re: Traditional vs. vector animation

There is no doubt it is beautifully animated, although if the vector version was achieved simply by moving the vectors around on top of the drawn animation (which is what it looks like), then I would still call this traditional hand-drawn animation. The vectors are simply used as another kind of tra...

This is great! As well as being full of charm and nicely animated, it's so well integrated into the live action footage and is a joy to watch.

Great work, Victor and the crew. A really lively film. When I see the individual set-ups, I almost wish each scene were twice as long, to give it space to breathe a bit.

I just saw this for the first time, as you bumped it up the list again. That's a great looking series you have made there. I'm delighted to discover it was all animated in AS. Congratulations!

Your work is wonderful, as always. Even though I don't understand any Chinese it is interesting to see the film taken apart in this way. Thank you for the posting.
