I like it. It's just complex enough animation to fool the eye, but you kept it simple enough to not stretch your timeline. Cleverly done.

OK, I did some tests for myself. Result #1: Moho doesn't care about "resolution". http://www.slowtiger.de/examples/300_72.png The image I used was 400 x 400 px big, stored in 72 dpi and again in 300 dpi. Moho interpreted both correctly as 400 x 400 px, showing them at 72 dpi (the Moho film was set t...

I'm deeply impressed. This film already has a lot what tells a good film from a mediocre one: storytelling, storyboarding, clever editing, and animation only where it's needed ... Is it your first film? Of course you know best where you need to improve your skills. More drawing training, better use ...

Since I did similar stuff (but on a much smaller scale), I think I can guess how it was done: 1. Storyboard. A project like this can only be done with lots of planning. One has to know how many actors in which clothing and mask appear in which scene. Also the poses for the actors must be known befor...

I'm with Vern here. It's impossible to draw a line between hobbyists and professionals when you deal with a complex art like animation. Even if I, personally, could do without the scripting, there will be hundreds of people out there who just _like_ to dive into that. (And I need the scripts, too, b...

My POV about Moho goes like this: Moho is unique in its combination of tools. I'd like it to stay that way because I am quite happy about its abilities right now, and I can integrate Moho into my workflow comfortably. Moho is not, and shouldn't attempt to become: - a replacement for Flash - a single...

doppel: I suggest you take a look at Mirage ( http://www.bauhaussoftware.com ) which is marketed as "animation program" although it's just a tuned video paint program. Anyway, it can do some of the tasks quite good: - import image sequences - paint those images quite fast - play back these images - ...

Ah, OK, I misunderstood. "exported flash files" for me sounds like something to be further worked with in Flash. Moho doesn't do symbols like flash, but there's this little indicator in your layer symbol: as long as the red dot appears, this layer will be a symbol in the final .swf file. In order to...

hm, why bother? If you want to export to flash anyway, you should do the text portion of your work there as well, because it is much easier to do there.

jorgy: Watercolor is, to my knowledge, best mimicked by Painter, but you are right that no program can be as subtle as real watercolor. Animated watercolor: have you ever seen the films of (chinese master animator) Te Wei? Think of delicate chinese watercolor - but in movement. These films have been...

Well, software doesn't win every time. I'm a professionally trained 2D animator, as well as a draughtsman and a graphic designer. I have to know which part of work has be done in which technique to be as fast and cheap as possible. Sometimes software wins, sometimes drawing by hand wins. It's a matt...

More about motion blur: it is a phenomenon not restricted to film, but inherent to any optical apparatus in nature. The general definition goes like this: there is a window of perception for any kind of aptical apparatus (which means the combination of eye, nerves and brain). If the movement is too ...

Of course one important reason to produce as few drawings as possible is to cut costs. But if one looks at anime, one wonders why they save costs at one corner by doing only 4 drawings per second while they still stick to their detailed drawing style and overwhelming effects (which are, as opposite ...

You get the quicktime player for free at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html (left column is the free stuff). I'd do the reflected character as a separate scene, render it as a video with a lossless codec, and import it into the scene into the mask of the mirror. One can animate the whole scene with everything until the movements are OK, the copy the scene and erase everything which is not needed in that pa...
