Finger fatness on a pad or pod or phone doesn't matter much. Even a stylus isn't particularly advantageous. The screen (OS) figures out the perimeter of your finger, and averages it to a center. The software then applies a brush diameter to that center point. I think sketchbook even lets you offset ...

If you consider the 'entry level' of TVP, it's relatively more expensive than, say, Toon Boom Studio. Consider the cost of Anime Studio [pro] vs that of TVP, and it's a big jump in cost. Thus, this audience isn't necessarily TVP's target audience, initially. I don't think you can compare Toon Boom ...

Yes, the software may be expensive, but any passion has a price : renting a piano and taking lessons costs minimum 80 euros / month (= 960 euros / year), a good Folk guitar costs around 300 euros, horse riding costs 30 euros / hour... Oh, the upgrade costs for a guitar... Hardware, software, access...

Forgot Softimage. Also MotionBuilder. Autodesk sells a combo pack with those two and Maya (or 3D Max).

3D is certainly the land of plug-ins and additional software. You can't have enough tools to get 3D done.

If you're going to use C4D for character animation, you might want to look into Cactus Dan's plugins: http://cactus3d.com/ (not sure about current version compatibility). The 'Studio' version of C4D adds in some helpful tools. Worth looking at. Rigging in 3D is a chore. C4D rigging has improved over...

c4D=Pretty good program. Look at Maya. Look at Houdini. You can get Houdini free (watermarked), and cheap, and expensive. http://www.sidefx.com/ c4D places: http://www.c4dzone.com/en/ http://www.c4dcafe.com http://forums.creativecow.net/cinema4d Kind of depends on what you want to do with it. They a...

Sounds rather ambitious. I guess you could manage with Anime Studio for that. Maybe take a look at something like CrazyTalk too: http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/crazytalk.asp If you manage to get to lip synch, I'd suggest doing it with open/closed mouths (ie: two mouths total). It generally work...

I agree with Slowtiger's comments. My daughter is nine. She hates Anime Studio. It's not intuitive, and its relationship to physical reality isn't clear enough for her. Same sentiments from kids at her school. Stop motion software with a web cam: http://www.stopmotionworks.com/stopmosoftwr.htm is a ...

So, two respondents from India. Would you be comfortable commenting on the 'fairness' of the pay offered? (high, low, average)?

More as an educational thing for the highly paid people here who think that's really low...

Asset management is a nice thing to have. I'm glad TVP is doing something about it. Have to wait and see how that goes. I was under the impression that Freakish Kid was trying to make some inroads into that for ASP? Perhaps not. Now I'm wondering, why is there a need to have a TVP thread here? They ...

TVPaint has got scripting. I wonder if it, or ASP scripting is robust enough to deal with all of the management issues though. I'm sure it would require additional software (there was already a discussion about this a while ago). Then someone would have to develop it and implement it. Often times, I...

TV Paint, like Anime Studio, is not 'large' production friendly. I've commented on that here and 'there'. I didn't notice any mention of how many seats of TV Paint they had at Disney, or what they might be doing with it. Naturally, as a small business, TVP (or anyone else in a similar position) is g...

I use TVP sometimes. Note that it is bitmapped (for the people who didn't know that). There are a lot of things I like about TVP, and a lot that I dislike. It's worth using though. What difference does it make what Disney uses? The people I know over there say they're still Harmony-based anyway.

here's a thought: what do you expect to get out of going to school for animation? (which should also be considered when choosing where to go)?
