Seems to me the only things you truly need are a pencil, paper and possibly some inks if you want to draw by hand.

If you want to do everything in the computer I would suggest a WACOM Tablet or a WACOM Cintiq and a program like Manga Studio or Photoshop.

Very well done art and style.

Only critique I have (good or bad, your choice) is that it definitely has the look of something done in Anime Studio. You can almost see the Bones at work in a lot of the movements of the characters.

Other than that it looks pretty awesome so far.

Would it be OK if we debated Political Correctness in another forum? Yeah, how the heck did this turn to a political debate within the first few posts? Get over yourself human, this isn't the place. Gnaws, the animation looks good. I think he's a bit static while talking, but the lip-sync and all l...

I found a GREAT link on animating walk cycles. This guy uses traditional animation techniques but the movement and ideas behind the walk cycle are universal. http://moolt.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=14&Itemid=30 I'm sure his videos will help you tremendously as I think you ...

Very cool stuff.

Definitely some of the better work I've seen done in AS so far. You can definitely tell its done in AS...w/ the bouncy noses and arms and such.

Drawing in Illustrator vs. AS

I would say just learn AS and its drawing tools instead of doing double duty in Illustrator and AS. I (like a lot of others in here) started off doing characters in Illustrator, then imported them into AS because I was more comfortable w/ the Illustrator tools since I had been using them for years. ...

Any wacom tablet will do, personally I prefer the A5 size, too. For bitmap animation I use my Cintiq. I wish I had the money for a Cintiq. It would make traditional animation much easier in apps like Flash. As for the original question, the only way to go is WACOM. All the others are trash in compa...

I think from now on we should say: RATG or RTFM. ;) I grow so tired of these kids asking "so how do I animate?" or "how EXACTLY do I do my project?" The internet has tons and tons of information on animation techniques, not to mention this forum has tons of examples and threads discussing var...

I find running around the garden helps a lot. If that's not for you, perhaps reading the tutorials and actually animating your story might work. If not, try running around the garden some more and see if that helps. Good luck. This is the best suggestion so far. :) I don't have a garden though, so ...

Based on your character tests and the entire animatic I think this is going to be a great short film. I can't wait to see it finished! It's nice to see some people really show what AS can do in the right hands.

I feel like the walk is less of a waddle now...and I liked the waddle. I think having the shoulders/head dip further down would help give this walk some more personality.

Yeah, probably no one mentioned it before because I already stated in the first post that it was something I didn't have time to fix. I share your opinion about it. Ah, didn't even read the first post, I just clicked on the link to the animation. :) I've seen your other stuff and didn't even bother...
