Great to see you bring this one to life.
One of my favorite animation books. I love the suggestions for "cheats" - put your character on wheels, or behind a hedge, to avoid animating walks. And the fake art book to trace.

MM in the Public Domain
I wasn't planning to do this but it was really hard to resist building a "Steamboat Willie" Mickey in Moho and playing around a bit. So I did. : )
Fun to play with a classic character from so long ago.

Re: Cutout animatiion software for children?
I use Dragonframe for stop motion (and anything else I'd shoot with a camera - cutouts, claymation, drawn animation) - they have a "try for free" mode, too. You do need a camera and a tripod, and it really helps if you buy it outright and get the controller, but it is a bit pricey. That sa...

Re: Beginner's Mode
Having "taught" many kids over the years, I suggest you give them the pro version and let them explore.* They will teach YOU things you didn't know the software could do. : ) (I recall giving a kid Infini-D to do experiment with 3-D animation 30 years ago at Capital Children's Museum's Ani...

Thanks!
One more workaround is to write out timings and use them while animating, then composite audio and images after silent animation is exported.

AIFF file seems to cause crash in 14
Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 Moho 14 Did a some animation then added a short aiff file. Worked fine and played while animating. Went to render the sequence and it crashed. Wouldn't do it. : ) Opened the file in 13.5, deleted the audio and re-opened in 14. Render went fine while silent. Addend the audio again ...

Re: Is moho 14 3D?
Moho was going to use "The future is 2D with all that rigging stuff!" as the new slogan, but they shortened it. : )

"Moho should hired me as a freelance complainer..." I'd take that job, but I'd have to move overseas and it would be a hassle and... : ) ... I agree that Objects is a vague term, given all that it covers. Perhaps tool tips could be added in a future version that offer more full explanation...

Pixelmator supports movie files now
Pixelmator ( great Mac OS image editing) was just updated and now includes some very basic video file editing. You can import/export a few video formats and do a range of non-destructive edits to the overall movie file. Also has some ability to work with Apple's Motion, if anyone uses that. : ) Look...

Re: Automatic Lipsync Tips $ Techniques
Slowtiger is spot on. I do the same thing. (And very much agree that a sound file with just the vocal track is best - music and other sounds in the mix can throw this off.) Sometimes I'll throw a couple extra mouth shapes (smile, etc.) up at the top, where the loudest sounds would normally go. Then ...

Re: Road map for Moho
I'd like to see more of the tried and true, fully-tested user-created scripts becoming "official" features, approved by Moho and installed at start up. There seem to be too many times when the solution to a problem is to go download and install a third party script, when a user might prefe...

Handy hands
Of all the character creating tasks to do, my least favorite is hands. I suggest that a good basic hand shape be added to the pre-made shape options (rectangle, circle, triangle, star, arrow, spiral, grid)... something that would have the points already located at the joints, spaced correctly. That ...

Re: Cloud Moho
Maybe part of the reason some of us US users wouldn't like it is our gosh darn slow internet in this part if the world. On a good day in rural VT we get 40-50Mbps down and about 10 up. And if we have a few users on the network it slows down accordingly. Ours is cell-based, too, so if it rains, we so...

Re: Cloud Moho
I'm not a fan of any cloud-based software. I like to own the software, not rent it. I like to have everything local and private. No other company needs to know what I'm doing and when, if possible. If and when the cloud goes down, I want to keep working. Don't want to reply on third party services t...

Re: Best Starting position for head/bodt turns.
The Gilliam book is a must have if you like his stuff. I wouldn't say it is a great animation book, but there are some of his thoughts about cutouts documented. A bit like a Monty Python animation book. Animations of Mortality is the name.
