and yet another volley ... ---------------- FROM THE ILLUSTRATORS’ PARTNERSHIP Orphan Works: No Myth We’ve seen “Six Misconceptions About Orphan Works” circulating on the Internet. It’s a well-reasoned piece, but has one problem. The author cites current copyright law to “debunk” concerns about an a...

I actually tend to be suspicious so I am a bit surprised at myself. Still, I won't discount it all. There were people who belittled the CIA agent who warned of an attack like the 9/11 that eventually took place. There were others that ridiculed experts who warned of the risks that eventually led to ...

Well the article Rasheed mentioned is very convincing as is the copyright offices congressional report byf Marybeth Peters. I feel foolish and think I will stick to drawing instead of rabble rousing. I did send Mrs. Peters a link to the article that started this and ask if you would consider sending...

Ah, thanks for that. I usually avoid the lemming runs but the fact that it was on AWN gave it some weight. Now I wonder.

@heyvern - beautiful work on the poster. Very expressive. I've never done one but have to really admire how well it is done. I also think we are too litigious as a society. I'm sure many laws could be done away or simplified if not for the innate tendency of many of us to get advantage over others. ...

Sorry, I am reposting a bit I wrote on another forum. I'm hoping enough chatter may cause those involved to address the issue. ---------------- In some ways it seems like the suggested legislation is a Trojan Horse. The outer covering of reasonableness in protecting the large image distributors and ...

Thanks for that additional link. It seems there is always some greedy person looking to grab benefit for themselves regardless of the consequences to others. I think their must be some rotten bits in our DNA. I wrote emails to as many friends as I could think of then hit the politicians, Google and ...

I am looking at freelance and also taking a look at iStockPhoto and TurboSquid to see if I can build up some assets that might create a dependable secondary revenue stream. Thanks for the advice and thumbs up. I guess the first time is the scariest. My only problem now is getting copies of my work for my portfolio. They made us keep our files on a portable company drive and after the meeting they ushered us out the door and said they'd send the files. It hasn't been lo...

I had heard it was like that and I do feel very fortunate that was my first gig - I almost didn't get it. I applied multiple times with no answer and finally offered to take a test to show I could do it. That time they answered and I was able to do a good enough job to get hired during a time of ext...

Thanks. I have been checking around. Probably am looking for a Flash/Photoshop job as I have a years worth of work for my portfolio in those tools. It was a huge client. Represented too much of their business. They were aware of those and trying to add other new accounts but too little too late. The...

Laid Off

Oh well. Due to changing requirements from a major client 24 illustrators and graphic design folks were laid off Monday -me included. Going to miss that place. While I do my job searching I figured I'd do some drawing in Flash. Here is a wip.

Kidscreen Summit

The Kidscreen Summit starts today. The company I work for is there and pitching original content -including my first children's show! I'll either be ecstatic or emotionally devastated over the next three days. I'll post show and character info if/when I know it's ok to do so. Wish me luck. I'm worki...
