Re: How to make a action combining 2 smart bones?

Haven't seen your rig yet, so I don't know how many points your character's mouth has, but try this: Move different points for the different smart bones. That is, try to use only the points at the edges for the happy/sad expression smart bone, and the points at the middle for open/close mouth smart ...

Re: color gradients animation: keep up length and velocity

It might help if your gradient control was centered in the circle. Also it looks like you used "smooth" interpolation on the keys for the rotation. Smooth interpolation starts and ends slow, and speeds up in the middle. Perhaps change the interpolation on those keys from smooth to linear.

Re: Stroke is sticking out of the shape

Jedi, you also could try this: 1. Place another point on the same black line, about a millimeter or two from the point in question. 2. Then select the hide line segment tool (H) and click on the segment closest to the edge. 3. You may have to slide the new point you created a bit to one side or the ...

Wow, that looks great.

I remember one of the animators around here had mentioned problems with getting gears like that to mesh cleanly, but you seem to have got it down pat.

Re: How do I see bones separately in timeline?

Let's say I have an animation of a rig with several bones. If I want to change, or delay, the animation of one particular bone, I can't see its keyframes separately in the timeline. \ I see that Greenlaw mentioned it in passing, but if the set of red channel keys (below the main set) is too visuall...

Re: Points not staying within main shape. :(

Without seeing the file itself, I can only guess. It sounds like a binding problem. Make sure all your points are bound to the correct bones. It may be helpful to review the sections on bone-binding in the manual. Also make sure that your bone strengths are set correctly. If a bone's strength is too...

Big Red Dot Appears in Frame By Frame

There is a giant red dot that appears sometimes when I am using the frame by frame function (ASP 11.5). It doesn't seem to mess up anything, and it doesn't render. Also, it is not linked to a shape or layer or curve. It's not a vector point with color turned on. It only appears when I'm doing frame ...

Re: Adjusting individual keyframes.

UPDATE: It occurred to me after that long answer that you might only be looking for "Step" interpolation, you can look it up in Help. The keyframes are all hooked together on the timeline. If you don't want an action at, say, frame 24 to affect all the actions in the rest of the timeline you have to...

Re: Blinking

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know how to copy and paste points from one spot on the timeline to another spot, yes? That is, you've already made the character blink once, and now you want him to do it again, somewhere else on the timeline? 1. Select the points you wish to copy...

Re: layers disappear when put into bone layer

I had this happen once or twice, and it was always that the Z value of the bone layer was some number other than zero. Try this: Select the bone layer. Then go over to layer tools, & pick layer transform, and look at the values in the layer position windows (top left). If the Z axis value is not zer...

Re: distortion of limbs while adjusting bones

Without seeing the animation, I can only give some guesses. It sounds like you have the hand moving in relation to more than one bone at once. Check to make sure that your hand is only bound to the appropriate bone, and check the bone strengths of the nearby bones to make sure there is only one bone...

225178761 I created a head turn for this character and was having a hard time getting the eyelids to stay in position over the eyes as the head turned. I found success by doing what I now see Greenlaw eluding to above and separating out what can be animated by layer motion from the point motion nee...

Re: How to add skin details?

"Squint" lines could also be added to the character at frame 0, but with the line width set to zero, so that the lines would be invisible, Then the line width could be animated at whatever point you require. Also you could set up a "squint" smart bone that would lower the eyelids and add the quint l...
