Re: Rig/Actions Question

You are correct, what you did should work. I've had this happen a few times after I somehow made a tiny error in the process. Maybe my solution will be your solution. Locate the BAD point or points -- the ones that not following orders in the main timeline. Go into the Action and select those points...

Re: Cycle and 2nd action

It sounds like you have already learned a lot. My advice is to animate your character as much as possible. If you can make it move like you want, you are doing great. As time goes by, you will learn new techniques. Every time you run into a problem, that's an opportunity to increase your knowledge a...

Re: Cycle and 2nd action

. . .but if I wanted to make him close his eyes every 5 seconds I can't do that because it goes to interrupt his walk. . . Hmm. You should be able to add a blink without messing up a walk cycle. Check your smart bones and make sure each one is not trying to control more things than they should be c...

Re: Cycle and 2nd action

This problem is a little tricky. And every rig presents unique challenges. But this should work. Let the character walk in the walk cycle until you need him to raise his arm or do something different. As soon as you need him do something different, let's say on frame 200, select/copy all the keyfram...

Re: Parts of the Head keep shifting when moving the whole body

Moho has a high learning curve, because it does stuff differently. But once you learn it, I think most people find it fairly intuitive, since "fun to use" is a common experience. Agree. Moho seems to have numerous bugs whenever a user is ascending the learning curve. I bet 99% of the time...

Re: Bone Transparency and Pin bone can be manipulated with manipuated bone tool

I'm now confused about what you want to do. If I keep selecting the wrong bone, I usually rebuild my bone rig so that I make fewer mistakes. Or zoom-in and pick the correct bone.

Re: Frame 0 and the Sequencer

Not easy to explain.... so, In my experience, any layer content (animated or not) remains visible (and renders) from frame 0 to any frame set as Start. If I draw a circle and move the layer's Start Time to frame 48, I'll be seeing that circle from 0 to 48 (which is why I move the content out of the...

Re: Character facing left turns 180 and walks away

I'm probably going to just do it and see how it turns out. Searching online, I only found examples for 3D artists, nothing for us 2D specialists. When I do a walk cycle, I like to have a picture of a 2D walk cycle handy, as reference. It would be nice to have one for 180 degree turn-around. But like...

Re: How do I repair my Target Bones? (..and more)

(how is it possible just to tie down/freeze one bone or selection?) When I use the "Auto-freeze Keys" button, I usually have to delete keys for a bone later. Select the bone (or bones), then look to the left of the timeline. You'll see the Selected Bone channels for rotation, translation ...

Re: Actions, 2d mesh and loop

A lot of things can go wrong with actions, if you make a little mistake. In my opinion, the simplest way to make and use actions is to use "Insert Copy" in the Actions tab. Say, for example, you made your character wave his hand "hello" on frame 48 to frame 58. There are a severa...

Re: Character facing left turns 180 and walks away

Thanks. If all else fails, I'll use those photos, but the odds are pretty good my timing would suck, and I would miss certain subtle but critical movements that should be exaggerated. I'd like a template prepared for animators. For example: WALK CYCLE: start with the contact position on frames 1, 13...

Character facing left turns 180 and walks away

Does anybody have any reference images they can share, or personal tips, for making a character facing left turn 180 and start walking? I'm not asking about a character turn-around, where a character spins in place like they're standing on a lazy Susan. I'm talking about an animated scene where the ...

Re: Bone Transparency and Pin bone can be manipulated with manipuated bone tool

One little trick is to select the Eyedropper tool. Then all the bones disappear.

Also, above the timeline where most of the buttons are, there is a button called Show Curves. If you turn it off, the bones are hidden.

Sounds awesome.

The speed of reindeer looks good, imo. It looks like it's going maximum speed.
