Re: How do I control an imported video?

Oh ok, I knew AS isn't a video editor but I thought it would have the very basic video controls to help animate around videos you had created in other video editing software. Never mind, if it's not there, it's not there. I will do it another way. Thanks for your quick reply :-)

How do I control an imported video?

I'm possibly being really blind and/or stupid here, but how do I control a video that I imported? e.g. pause it, fast forward etc? I have a video with a head turn that I want to use to trace, but I can't see how to play, pause, fast forward etc. to get it at the right points at the right time.

Re: Point clusters with smart bone turns

Hi Guys Great advice as always! I have created a couple of different versions of the hair that relate to certain points of the turn and then used a switch layer to switch between them. Obviously at a certain point, the active one will match the shape of the next one and then I just perform the switc...

Point clusters with smart bone turns

Hi All I'm having a little hassle with point clustering during a smart bone turn. This tends to happen the most with hair and beards as there are naturally more points to start with. What happens is on a front view, the hair comes down both sides of the face. As the head turns, the hair naturally sh...

Is flipping a layer good practice?

Hi All I'm getting quite into these smart bones for character head/body/feet turns etc. However I wanted your opinion on a technique I am using as to whether it's likely to create crazy problems in future. I don't want to get half way through creating an animation and find it's causing problems and ...

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

Hi Heyvern

I've sent you a PM as I'm having an issue getting it to do what I want. I'm pretty sure it's me doing it wrong but if you have time, can you take a quick look? Thanks so much for all your help :-D

Cheers
Pete

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

Haha don't beat yourself up, I've made many similar or worse mistakes when coding websites!

That's done it!....kind of. Now I think I need to re-watch your video as the result is not correct. However it is now doing something! I think the problem is probably now my end :)

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

It's OK, I'm just glad you have taken the time to create the script in the first place :-) I'm sure it's probably something simple. I'm using version 9.5. I tried selecting all the points but it made no difference I'm afraid. Not sure exactly what you need in the image but the one I've been trying t...

Combination smart bone movements

Hi All I have a question about combination movements with smart bones. My specific issue is with the eyes blinking during a head turn. At full front view, the blink smart bone works perfectly well. However when the head is turned to the side, there is a point where the blink action starts to go wron...

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

Hi Heyvern I am trying out your scripts (finally!) and I have a little problem. The Copy and reverse keys after last key script works very well. However the Flip symmetrical points horizontally doesn't do anything. I have tried the script as a button install and a menu install and neither seem to wa...

Re: Help! can't get off step interpolation!

AHHHH! It was right in front of me! You were exactly right Heyvern but I missed it because I didn't individually inspect each keyframe. Although I moved the timeline slider thing (not sure on the official term for that) back to frame 0, the drop down remained on "linear". Therefore I assum...

Re: Help! can't get off step interpolation!

I have looked through every keyframe including frame 0 and it's still not working. I have even cleared all animation from the document but it's still doing it. In fact a blink action (on the blink smart bone) I had working well has now broken because the eye lashes have gone to a step interpolation ...

Help! can't get off step interpolation!

Hi I have a problem with the interpolation. I have created a new character and I'm using smart bones to control movements. However things keep reverting to step interpolation even though I have it set to linear. I have even tried deleting the smart bone and starting again making sure it is set to li...

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

Cool, I will look out for that :)

One question, I want to add the buttons to run the script as you have it on the video, but in the download zip file the button png's weren't included. Are they a separate download?

Re: What's needed for a full character using smart bones

Hi Heyvern This looks brilliant! I have just completed my first full head and body turn with the first character. However, it was with a character that didn't have symmetrical points when I first created it so it took me quite a while. For the next character I'm going to give your script a go to see...
