Re: Basic Frame by Frame Tutorial

Nice work. I've been getting my head around Toon Boom lately and I need all the help I can get.

It brings the symmetrical rulers over from version 4, for a start. That's the main thing I was waiting for.

BBC reconstructs Doctor Who w/ Anime Studio

I just returned from the local video retailer where I picked up a couple of recently Doctor Who DVDs - The Ice Warriors and Reign of Terror. Both of these serials were from the 1960s and had long been incomplete, with the BBC having destroyed much of their original tapes. Now, both of these have bee...

Re: Mac Workflow

it's not the number of elements you use. It's about how you control and balance them all, in music as well as in animation. Well said and I agree wholeheartedly. Four or fifty tracks... it's really a question of discretion, style and need. I like and make music in a variety of styles. Some are best...

Re: Mac Workflow

50 Tracks? I noticed that the good stuff I'm listening to rarely uses more than 12 (distinguishable) tracks (counting drums as 1). Speaking as an audio pro (and as a 12-year veteran writer for Computer Music magazine), I'll point out that drums themselves generally require a minimum of four, but us...

Excellent work as always. I especially like the way you animated the bit with him pulling stuff out of his bag. Impressive!

Re: Does Anyone Use Flipbook?

I haven't used Flipbook - I looked at it, but something about their presentation put me off. I tried demos of both Toon Boom Studio and Toon Boom Animate and eventually bought Toon Boom Animate during a holiday sale. It's all subjective of course and thankfully there are demos to see what "clic...

Re: Audacity: Does anybody use it?

I don't use it for my animation too much because as a writer for Computer Music magazine, I have more powerful tools for the same jobs. However, I do recommend it quite often and have written a number of tutorials in the magazine that feature it. I like it because it's free and open source and also ...

Re: Original Music with Animated Video

Nice work. I used to use Studio One back when it was the freeware Kristal, but have not tried it since Presonus took it over - even though they seem to have added everything I thought Kristal lacked. I've used their FireStudio box on a Linux machine before though. It was good. You guys sound great. ...

Re: Original Music with Animated Video

Well done! The art and animation is right up my alley. Very cool. The music is well done, too... did you record and mix the whole song in Magix, or is that simply where you put it together with the video? (I'm curious. I'm a longtime writer for Computer Music magazine and I'm always interested in th...

Re: I Will Burn by The Incurables

Good ear Scot. They recorded at Sawhorse Studios in St. Louis. An awesome room that's been gettins the attention of some national artists lately. The engineer Jason is super talented and really easy to work with. (checks out Youtube video of Sawhorse Studios) That's a terrific looking studio. I lik...

Great fun to see and hear. The animation is terrific and so is the song. The song is very nicely engineered as well! Especially good vocal performance and recording.
