Hi Peteroid. The thing on page 366 is saying you can bring in a PSD file if you use the Anime Studio script. If you didn't use the script, that's probably why it doesn't work. That script comes with Anime Studio but you need to install it into Photoshop (it's a Photoshop script) and use it from with...

Anyone in LA/Orange County/San Diego area?

I was curious if anyone else here lives in this area of Southern California.

I got the English 6.0 version and after updating to 6.1 there were options to change it to French and German, so there shouldn't be any problems going from the English version.

I think that's a completely unrelated program from Moho/Smith Micro's Anime Studio, so I think it does everything differently from the versions 5.6/6 that I use.

Personally, I've never even tried that Japanese one, since I don't know Japanese.

Anime Studio's 3D capabilities are a bit limited. You can't rig a bone system onto a 3D object in Anime Studio like you would in a full-fledge 3D program. So for non-static things like a human, you'd want to stick with vector layers (or imported images).

You can import AVI and MOV, but not SWF (you can see the import options in the comparison chart in the manual)

AS isn't a 3d modeling program, so if you want to create 3d objects, you'd want to use something like Blender. After you create your 3d object, you can import it into the 3d layer on AS. Check out the tutorials in the manual - those go into more details about this.

Onionskin's only in the Pro version. There's a comparison chart showing the differences on page 299 of the manual.

Styles is only available in Pro. There's only the one manual for both the regular and the Pro version, so there's no other one to get. There's a comparison chart in the manual showing what is and isn't in the regular version.

I'm pretty sure Mike said if you bought it recently, you can upgrade for free (no mention of whether you bought it directly from Smith Micro or not). That being said, if you did buy it from the marketplace instead of direct from Buy.com, then it might not count cause it's resold. Either way, just as...

Yeah, the discount's probably because of the damaged box, though Buy.com has a market place where individuals could resell copies they've previously bought - maybe you bought one of those? But if you want to be sure, you should contact Smith Micro directly to see what they have to say about it. You ...

It is for Windows and Mac, but it says hybrid right above the serial #. I want to make sure it is not an education copy. When I bought it, there was nothing confirming that it was academic. Here is the page I bought it from: http://www.buy.com/prod/anime-studio-5-pro/q/loc/105/208160061.html I don'...

Yeah, the boxed copies that Smith Micro sells (and all of the ones sold in stores as far as I've seen) are hybrids (ie work on both Win and Mac).

You'll have to install the program first. Inside the program, go to the Help menu and click on Help again.
