In the past, I've animated these using a ladder of bones translated to create waves. Pretty easy to loop the bone animation.

Nice one, Victor. I've often had trouble making meshes that allow precise morphing. Probably from relying on automatically generated ones, that are either too uniform or lose some of my contours.

But it need a serious requirement and that is the character needs to be perfectly symmetrical (It was also like you said to have a condition for what you've said to work). If the PNG is controlled by both bones and mesh, then the mask needs to be controlled by both too.

I'd have to see the file for any better answer.

Depends on the character, but the easiest way is just to flip the main layer for the other direction. But if I'll do that then wouldn't at one point in smart bone dial the character will be nothing but a straight line ? You just need to do the flip in one frame, like with a step keyframe. Since you still have an install left, you can always use the Moho Exporter on the render computer, even while using Moho on another, as they are two different programs (installed by the same installer).

One significant limitation with Debut is that you cannot use custom scripts. This means you will not be able to use some really useful tools like Synthsin75's Layer Shortcuts or Hayasidist's BakePNG in Debut. Just something to keep in mind. Sometimes you can group parts of the body into separate sorting groups, especially since nested bone control was added, but even this won't cover every possible combination. If that's not good enough, you may need to do your layer sorting in the main timeline. Or maybe even mix grouped action layer ...

Since you're doing an image sequence anyway, you might try rendering smaller arts of the animation separately.

If anything, I'd want to upgrade to 12.5 Pro, as v13 has problems. But since SM no longer sells v12, you'd probably have to pick it up on Amazon or somewhere.

So the switch layers work, but they just don't follow the head bone?

If so, you need to layer bind them to the head bone.
