Hey synth, but this is assuming all bone swaps have the same bone structure so they can be controlled by a core 'controller' bone, in which case you may as well just swap the artwork with a switch? - what if you wanted to swap a 3 bone body with a 1 bone body?

I think the problem is if you have multiple limb options that need to reparent to multiple body options it becomes impossible to maintain. I expect a script and naming convention could possible handle linking of parts when switched but I can't think of a way to do it with the existing tools (I tried...

You can also create custom images to use in/as colour picker - so you could create an armour detail image, with the colours you need - it doesn't need to look like a grid of swatches, then in the drop down above the swatches you can load the image in 'custom image...'. The upper arm should be a smart bone that fixes the arm pit when raised. The lower arm should be a smart bone that fixes the elbow joint, and perhaps effects the muscles of the upper arm when bent. similarly to all other lanes on the time line (like points) you have the black track which shows where ANY point movement is keyed, but the red line only shows where the selected points are keyed. are you sure the bone rotation is at the end of the animation timeline (inside the action?) - you will only get some of the animation if the rotation ends early.
